Teaching with Technology Tools - WebBlender

The information I found very interesting and useful for my future Spanish classes was on WebBlender.   WebBlender is a tool teachers can use to create a classroom website, where students can add and share stories, videos, graphics, and audio files.  It is a great tool that lets a teacher focus on course content and easily share assignments, information and student work.

I believe WebBlender is a powerful tool to use in a foreign language classroom.   As a future Spanish teacher, WebBlender sounds like an exciting tool that will help my students reach their full potential.  There are a number of Spanish teaching techniques that a tool such as WebBlender can really enhance.  For example, in teaching a foreign language, such as Spanish, it is very common to use pictures to associate with words.  WebBlender would allow me to post pictures with their accompanying Spanish translations or post pictures as part of a homework assignment.  The use of audio files, such as podcasts, would be a great tool to help my students develop their listening and verbal comprehension skills.  Additionally, it will help them learn proper Spanish pronunciation through listening to audio files.  WebBlender would make it easy for me to include listening exercises in homework assignments, something that cannot be done without the use of such a helpful technology.  Additionally, I can post class notes, presentations, or study guides on WebBlender to provide my students even more resources to learn from.

I feel as a teacher it is important to find new ways to challenge my students and to think outside of the box.  With the help of technology, such as WebBlender, it is easier to do this.  Teachers need to remember that students love the use of technology such as computers and the internet, and the more that they can incorporate the use of interesting technologies into class, the more that students will be engaged.  I feel students in today’s classes become easily bored, and simply doing the same old pen and paper type of exercises may increase the likelihood they will get bored by their school work.  Using the tools available in a technology like WebBlender can help to alleviate such boredom and make learning more fun and interactive.
