Planning for Differentiated Instruction with Technology

Differentiated instruction pertains to finding different methods of instruction to reach all of the students in my class.  I feel this is a key aspect of teaching, and that every teacher should try to reach every student.  No students should be discounted because of any classification or disability.

This link provides information on differentiating instruction using technology.  I feel that the use of technology is a great way to reach students who may not be adept at book learning.  Teachers need to plan lessons and make adjustments to their original plan to meet the needs of their students.  Some students may not read well.  Therefore, the use of Youtube videos or Web 2.0 based activities may be much more effective than having force their way through a book.  Additionally, some students may not like reading books much.  It is important for teachers to understand their students’ interests and how they learn best, and then adapt their lesson plans accordingly.

The use of technology in the classroom is not the only method to differentiate instruction.  However, it is an important element that can help a teacher meet her students needs.
